2nd Annual Community Spelling Bee a Success by Many Measures
Thanks to generous community spirit and commitment to education, FACET’s annual fundraiser, the Community Spelling Bee, was a great success. Eighteen teams vied for victory in this spirited competition, which included costumed team members and plenty of supporters! Over $6,400 was raised that will be directed to K-12 education in Fairport, specifically to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and Arts initiatives and our signature Teacher Grant Program. Congratulations to two-time champions, the team from Minerva DeLand School sponsored by Metrose Custom Homes!

Teacher Grant Program
FACET sponsors an annual Teacher Grant Program in the fall, inviting all district staff members to submit proposals for consideration. Over the past three years, FACET has provided nearly $13,000 in grant funding, supporting and encouraging teachers who have creative curriculum ideas that enhance the student learning experience. These grants enable the purchase of materials and resources for curriculum centered projects that are not funded through traditional means.
BOX TOPS for Education
FACET has partnered with the Fairport Public Library, Perinton Community Center and Red Bird Market in the Village Landing to station community drop boxes for BOX TOPS for EDUCATION. Collection boxes are also located at Rose Hollow Apartments, Jefferson Park Apartments and Fairport Apartments, providing an opportunity for all area residents to easily participate in this program that benefits education. To participate, clip and save the Box Tops on items you have already purchased and drop them off during the school year to the community collection locations or any FCSD elementary school.
